The manga The Chainsaw Man has already gotten an anime television series adaptation, and now it looks like the popular series from Tatsuki Fujimoto will be getting a film adaptation centered on the Reze arc from the source material.

MAPPA, the studio behind the amine adaptation, released a teaser trailer for the upcoming film at this year’s Jump Fiesta, an annual anime and manga convention held in Tokyo, Japan. According to Polygon, the movie is titled Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc and takes place after the events from the first season of the anime series that dropped in the U.S. in October 2022 via Crunchyroll.

Here’s the synopsis of that first (and only released) season of the anime:

Denji is a teenage boy living with a Chainsaw Devil named Pochita. Due to the debt his father left behind, he has been living a rock-bottom life while repaying his debt by harvesting devil corpses with Pochita.

One day, Denji is betrayed and killed. As his consciousness fades, he makes a contract with Pochita and gets revived as “Chainsaw Man” — a man with a devil’s heart.

In the released teaser, we see both Denji and Reze who, as readers of the manga know, have a connection. Although there are some explosive secrets, let’s say, that Reze is keeping.

No news on when we’ll see Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc, though we do know it’s currently in production. In the meantime, you can watch the first season of the anime television series on Crunchyroll.
